Yay, two new chapters posted in one day! Trials of the Flesh is officially finished, and Magic and Steel has been updated. Now on to update Domovoi, and then to begin Transformers: Nexus Point.
Don't expect anything to be updated this weekend, however. Fandemonium prep comes first. Though do expect pictures of the "goods" to go up soon -- if I have any unsold stock it'll be offered for sale here, and I WILL take commissions even on stuff that sold out at the convention. (That's assuming stuff DOES sell -- the fact that we got the table at the very end of the Artist Alley doesn't bode too well...)
I have to admit, my attitude toward the convention is improving some. True, I'm still going to miss chunks of the convention, and I'm pretty well stuck with the table for most of the day Friday, since my brother-in-law can't be there and my sister doesn't want to dump her kids on Grandma for the entire day. But since the Artist Alley is only open until 6 or 7 every day, that leaves me the evenings to go explore some. And we're already talking about closing up shop a little early on Sunday to participate in the Scrap Cosplay competition.
Dangit, I'm going to have fun at this convention even if it kills me. I might be chained to a table, but I can still try to have a good time regardless, right?
One down side to having the convention in a different venue this year -- they charge for parking. Phooey. I'll find a way to deal...
Before the convention, however, there's one more event I need to deal with -- our library's end-of-summer breakfast. It used to be that we had a picnic on the lawn to celebrate the end of the summer library programs, but soon we realized it's cheaper to make pancakes for a couple hundred people than it is to cook hot dogs, so we made it a pancake breakfast instead. The fact that the library's located on the corner of Maple Street and Syrup Street had something to do with that decision too, though. Obviously whoever named those streets had a sense of humor...
The last several years I've been roped into entertaining the kids at the breakfast, usually by donning a costume and greeting the crowds. Most years it's been a Transformer costume, but I don't have a costume this year, so I'll be going as the world's shortest Darth Vader again. Let's see how many little kids I freak out this year.
Between convention prep and work, don't be surprised if y'all don't hear from me again until next week. Just a warning...
Thanks to for the idea for journal feature! Well, she suggested "your favorite character from The LEGO Movie," so here's my weird choice.

Dunno if this'll be the new normal every year, but it's been interesting, to say the least. No writing updates to speak of. I said I'd work on writing this weekend, only to get sucked back into playing Breath of the Wild again. Hopefully this week I'll have more writing time, what with spring break and not having classes. Unless I just get playing more BOTW haha... I'll be honest -- I'm really not sure how much more I'm going to be on DA. This site used to be a much more vibrant, lively place, but it feels like it's gone downhill over the years. And a lot
College vs. Fantasy and Sci-Fi -- A Rant

It's been awhile since I ranted about my real life here, and though I'm going to try to keep the personal details to a minimum, I feel like I can vent about this without it coming back to bite me in the butt. So this is my fourth semester of college -- yeah, I know, two years of school and I'm only halfway through a two-year degree, but that's what happens when you're trying to work a full-time job and go to school at the same time. And this semester marks my second semester of taking creative writing classes. I've enjoyed these classes and I do feel like I'm learning how to improve my writing, as well as shedding some of the bad habits I've learned over the years from writing fanfic. I

My New Year's Eve consisted of watching Dancing With the Stars with my stepsister and cracking open a bottle of sparkling cider when we noticed it was getting close to midnight. My life is EXCITING. :sarcasticclap: So I had grand plans to get a ton of writing done over my winter break from school. And instead I spent my winter break catching up on watching One Piece, playing Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros Wonder, and prepping for my reading challenges. So apologies that I don't have a sparkling new chapter of anything ready to post before school starts back up this week. I guess my brain just needed a break between semesters. I AM currently working on a new
Happy Holidays, and Life Updates
:library: 2024 Reading Challenge(s) Hope everyone had a good Christmas/Yule/Solstice/Hannukah/whatever you celebrate! This year I spent Christmas at my sister's house across the state. It was fun getting to celebrate with her family, and to experience a Christmas with kids again. Everyone got Nintendo Switch games and LEGO sets for Christmas, so Christmas Day was mostly spent snacking, playing games, and assembling LEGO sets. (I got Super Mario Bros Wonder and a dragon LEGO set, so gonna be busy with those...) I haven't done a lot of writing lately. Part of that is because I've been sucked into watching One Piece (I've finally caught up with the series, though, so now I'm just doing one episode a week), and part of it has been because several major projects were due in the final weeks of school. Now that classes are over until mid-January, maybe I can finally update Moons and Stars and Time Stand Still. Or maybe get distracted with video games, haha... at least I can
