The 50 Book Challenge -- Check it out for reviews and suggestions!
Tales From the Shelves -- my book-sporking blog Now sporking Revealing Eden!
Guess who had to go back to the vet today...
Ezzie didn't seem to be getting any better, so I hauled her back to the vet's office this morning. I wondered if the vet hadn't made a mistake in pulling teeth when it seemed she was sick with something else entirely, but the vet's diagnosis is that one of the sockets where her upper fangs used to be has gotten infected. He rinsed it out with a saline solution -- and believe me, she LOVED that -- then prescribed oral antibiotics. She does NOT like the medication, and actually tried so hard to cough it back up that she snagged her tongue on her bottom fangs and bled for a bit. The vet suggested mixing it with some soft food to see if she'll take it. I just hope that works...
In the meantime, Ezzie's still hiding from the world and isn't terribly happy with me. At least her ears have cleared up and I don't have to give her THAT medication twice a day anymore. Poor kitty... hopefully this is her last vet visit for awhile. At least until she fully recovers and it's time to get her updated on her vaccinations... won't THAT be fun...
Will keep folks updated. Between still worrying about Mom recovering from her surgery and now worrying about Ezzie, life has been hectic lately.
Still poking at writing. Not sure when the next chapter of Nexus Point will be done. I did take the suggestion of and create a Dramatis Personae (a guide to who's who, essentially) and will probably post it along with the next chapter, and link it in future chapters via the author's comments.
Three books away from finishing the 50-book challenge! And it figures -- I put one of the books (Shadow and Bone) on hold, check out another book (The Kingdom of Ohio) to tide me over until it comes back, and then Shadow and Bone comes in the very next day. The same day one of my inter-library loans (a book on the Golden Raspberry Awards, or the Razzies) also comes in. Looks like I'd better do a LOT of reading here...
Not much else to report. Brace yourselves for a meme next time...

Dunno if this'll be the new normal every year, but it's been interesting, to say the least. No writing updates to speak of. I said I'd work on writing this weekend, only to get sucked back into playing Breath of the Wild again. Hopefully this week I'll have more writing time, what with spring break and not having classes. Unless I just get playing more BOTW haha... I'll be honest -- I'm really not sure how much more I'm going to be on DA. This site used to be a much more vibrant, lively place, but it feels like it's gone downhill over the years. And a lot
College vs. Fantasy and Sci-Fi -- A Rant

It's been awhile since I ranted about my real life here, and though I'm going to try to keep the personal details to a minimum, I feel like I can vent about this without it coming back to bite me in the butt. So this is my fourth semester of college -- yeah, I know, two years of school and I'm only halfway through a two-year degree, but that's what happens when you're trying to work a full-time job and go to school at the same time. And this semester marks my second semester of taking creative writing classes. I've enjoyed these classes and I do feel like I'm learning how to improve my writing, as well as shedding some of the bad habits I've learned over the years from writing fanfic. I

My New Year's Eve consisted of watching Dancing With the Stars with my stepsister and cracking open a bottle of sparkling cider when we noticed it was getting close to midnight. My life is EXCITING. :sarcasticclap: So I had grand plans to get a ton of writing done over my winter break from school. And instead I spent my winter break catching up on watching One Piece, playing Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros Wonder, and prepping for my reading challenges. So apologies that I don't have a sparkling new chapter of anything ready to post before school starts back up this week. I guess my brain just needed a break between semesters. I AM currently working on a new
Happy Holidays, and Life Updates
:library: 2024 Reading Challenge(s) Hope everyone had a good Christmas/Yule/Solstice/Hannukah/whatever you celebrate! This year I spent Christmas at my sister's house across the state. It was fun getting to celebrate with her family, and to experience a Christmas with kids again. Everyone got Nintendo Switch games and LEGO sets for Christmas, so Christmas Day was mostly spent snacking, playing games, and assembling LEGO sets. (I got Super Mario Bros Wonder and a dragon LEGO set, so gonna be busy with those...) I haven't done a lot of writing lately. Part of that is because I've been sucked into watching One Piece (I've finally caught up with the series, though, so now I'm just doing one episode a week), and part of it has been because several major projects were due in the final weeks of school. Now that classes are over until mid-January, maybe I can finally update Moons and Stars and Time Stand Still. Or maybe get distracted with video games, haha... at least I can

Poor kitty! Having had a string of infections after having my wisdom teeth out, I can sympathize. Hope she gets better soon!
