I'm not dumb, I just have a command of thoroughly useless information. -- Calvin, The Days Are Just Packed

Looking for roommates for Botcon 2013! Note me for details

Sorry for the photo spam.  Figured it was about time I posted pictures of the new additions to my collection.  That and a couple of "just for fun" pics, because you're never too old to play with your toys.  :XD:

For those of you who are wondering, my talk on Sunday went well.  I ended up typing the whole thing out longhand and reading it aloud -- I don't improvise well when it comes to public speaking, and since I know I'm a decent writer but not a good speaker I figured this was the best way to handle it.  And while most of the talk is a blank spot in my memory now, people tell me I did pretty well.  I guess they couldn't see from the congregation that I was shaking the whole time.  :XD:

While I was waiting my turn to talk, I did have an amusing if unhelpful thought.  For some reason my mind drifted to an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and a line spoken by Photo Finish, one of the minor characters:

"Don't worry, there will only be hundreds of [people] out there watching your every move and silently judging you."

Not helpful, Photo Finish.  :XD:

Still poking at the first chapter of Trials of the Flesh.  Figures that this fic has to be unhelpful and difficult just as it's coming out of the starting gate, so to speak.  Maybe it's because I haven't written human characters in forever and am having problems adjusting to writing them.  Writing for humans is significantly different from writing for robots, after all.

It also doesn't help that this fic features a large amount of OCs, and I'm having to come up with individual personalities and lives for them instead of falling back on the already-established TF characters.  Ah well.  I can consider this good practice for the original writing.  :)

Will keep people updated on the fic's progress.  Though it may be that it doesn't get finished until after Rabbit Hole Day.  We'll see, I guess.

New journal feature next time... something non-TF this time around...

You'll find your way with human OCs for "Trials of the Flesh" in no time.

Don't know if you ever remember playing Donkey Kong 64, but I have to ask: between Breakdown and Hunky Chunky Kong, who would win? I'm voting for Chunky all the way. Breakdown doesn't have a chance. And heavenhelp him if he actually met K.lumsy... Oh dear. But at least it would be so completely adorable to watch K.lumsy try to make Breakdown his new pet. Aww...so cute.

I know nothing about Donkey Kong.

I'm glad to hear the speech happened with a minimum of trouble. And no, Photo Finish, you're definitely not helping.

Ugh. I'd suggest a short story with humans to help get back in the swing of things, but I'm sure you've got a lot of projects going on.

Thanks. :) I guess it's one of those things that you worry about and worry about, then once it's over you go "Oh, that wasn't so bad..."

I think I've got a handle on it now... just had to nail down who and what the different OCs were, so to speak.

Well writer's block is no fun at all, but hey at least the speech went well for you. :D

As for your OC's, I have to admit I'm kind of a slacker when it comes to actually developing complete characters. I get their awesome, positive qualities established in my mind and then it comes to the part of making them human and not "Mary-Sue omg perfect!" and my brain goes "Well... crap I dunno." and then they just kind of go hide in a corner of my mind. :XD: But if you ever need someone to just bounce ideas off of or talk at until you make up your mind you can send me a note or something. I'll see if I can help any. :D

Thanks. :)

I've noticed I tend to have a "stock" set of OCs I tend to fall back on when it comes to human characters. :XD: Their names and basic details might change, but their personalities remain the same.

Thank you. :) And hoping so too. I think now that I have names and info for the OCs, I'll be doing better...
